Bihar Mukhyamantri Kanya Suraksha Yojana 2021-22

The Government of Bihar has launched a scheme named “Mukhya Mantri Kanya Suraksha Yojana” to prevent female foeticide, improve the sex ratio, and encourage birth registration. The Government of Bihar gives Rs.2000/- under the Mukhya Mantri Kanya Suraksha Yojana to every girl child born on or after November 22, 2007, who belongs to the BPL category.

The benefits of this yojana are limited to two girls per family living below the poverty line. Women Development Corporation, Patna, Bihar, has invested Rs.2000 in fixed deposits with UCO and IDBI Banks on behalf of the Government of Bihar. The girl child will be paid a sum equivalent to the maturity value when she reaches the age of eighteen.

If a girl child dies during this time, the money will be returned to the Women Development Corporation of Bihar. This year, the plan finished its third year of execution. Approximately 15 lakh female children born in BPL families have benefited from the Government of Bihar’s Mukhyamantri Kanya Suraksha Yojana over the previous three years.
