Once upon a time, there was a young shepherd boy who was tasked with watching over a flock of sheep in the fields. He became bored and lonely, so he thought of a way to entertain himself.
One day, he decided to cry out, “Wolf! Wolf! A wolf is attacking the sheep!” The villagers, hearing his cries, quickly rushed to the field to help him. But when they arrived, they found no wolf. The boy laughed and said, “I was just joking. There was no wolf.”
The villagers were angry, but they went back to their homes. A few days later, the boy repeated the same trick. “Wolf! Wolf!” he cried, and once again the villagers rushed to his aid. But again, there was no wolf. The boy laughed even harder, and the villagers left, feeling frustrated.
One day, a real wolf came to the field and started attacking the sheep. The boy, terrified, shouted, “Wolf! Wolf! Help!” But this time, the villagers didn’t believe him. They thought he was just playing another trick. No one came to help, and the wolf attacked the sheep.
The boy learned a hard lesson that day. When you lie too many times, people stop trusting you, even when you tell the truth.
Moral: Never lie, or people will stop believing you when you really need help.
